Brazil, with a population of 190 million and a major contributor to international economic growth, is bidding to host EXPO 2020 in order to strengthen and broaden its relations with all nations around the world.

Sao Paulo is the world's 9th most populated and the 10th wealthiest city. With its cosmopolitan dimension comprising more than 70 different ethnic and religious communities, the city views EXPO 2020 as an opportunity to consolidate its leading role in the internationalization of the Brazilian economy to become a continental crossroad for people and trade.

In line with Sao Paulo's long-term strategic plan, SP 2040, the preparation and staging of EXPO 2020 will take into consideration social cohesion, innovative urbanism, environmental improvement, business and job opportunities.

EXPO 2020 will present the singularities of Brazil and Sao Paulo and their diverse composition of identities, races, cultural, scientific and educational institutions, and business communities that find here a harmonious coexsistance.

EXPO 2020 will stimulate human capital and economic growth for Brazil and Sao Paulo through the creation of new infrastructure - roads, railways, airports and digital highways - leaving a long lasting tangible and intangible legacy for the city and the country.

The 41 million residents of the State of Sao Paulo and the 18 million tourists expected to visit the city in 2020 will ensure that the EXPO is an extraordinary success.
